A rural Australian bloke who appears to have enough of a disposable income to buy a $1500 dollar t-shirt, isn't actually a criminal - it has been confirmed.

Despite having a 35-thousand dollar wristwatch and an ice-white new set of barry beef, Jai Gadsby (24) is actually living a life completely within the confines of common law.

As far as anyone can actually tell, all of his luxury items have been acquired through honest means.

His older cousins, who remember him being somewhat of a townie troublemaker, are struggling to accept this as a fact.

"No chance" says Jai's older cousin Bryden (35, boilermaker).

"He's driving a brand new Defender and his mum's telling the aunties that he paid for it outright"

Another cousin, Pete, also refuses to believe that Jai hasn't joined an outlaw motorcycle gang and is now living off the proceeds of major drug trafficking operations throughout regional Australian and the outer-metropolitan outskirts of our major cities.

"He's got a misuss too" says Pete.

"You can't splash money on that kind of shit if you've got a missus"

However, the brazen tall poppy syndrome of Jai's extended family does not change the fact that he has earnt all of this through nothing more than a bit of elbow grease and the common worksite and utility tickets.

"Yeah" says Jai, unwittingly explaining his vast wealth.

"I'm all good for heavy rigid. Confined spaces. Working at height too"

"Basically just driving trucks up and down a massive hole in the middle of the bush."

Jai is of course talking about his new job on the controversial Snowy Hydro 2.0 between Canberra and the Victorian border.

Announced as a Federal infrastructure project late last decade at an initial price of $13B - the cost of Snowy Hydro 2.0 has blown out to as much as $25B and is not tipped to be operational until 2029.

This is terrific news for Jai and his family, as he brings home a bigger salary than any man in the history of his bloodline.

"So good. Gets a bit cold but fuck it the coin is so good"
