One of Betoota’s most exciting young halfbacks is expected to be sanctioned this week, after making himself unavailable to play in a do-or-die game of bush footy.

Sitting in 11th place in the Central West NRL competition, the Betoota Dolphins are yet to win a game this season, and are only ahead of Bedourie Bulldogs on a points differentiation.

However speaking to club captain coach Wayne Bellamy, last weekend’s 54-4 defeat to the Longreach-Ilfracombe Tigers can solely be blamed on the fact 26 year old livewire halfback Jaxon Campell wasn’t able to take to the field because he had “pre-existing commitments”.

“Obviously been a tough week for the club, staring into four straight losses is never fun.”

“But at this point of the season we’re really asking for everyone to buy in, so it’s ultra disappointing that Jaxon skipped the 3pm Saturday game to go on a cute weekend away in the vineyards and propose to the love of his life…”

“It’s unconscionable conduct really, him taking to the field last weekend really could have been the difference on the day.”

Speaking to the club playmaker, Jaxon Campell says all the old boys around the club need to get their CTE infected heads checked if they think a bottom of the ladder clash against a bunch of plumbers and fencers is more important than properly celebrating a major life milestone, like marriage.

“I didn’t even wanna play this year, but coach texts me every Friday night begging me to come fill in for one more week,” Jaxon told The Advocate, as he ran punishment laps around Wally Lewis Oval.

“I’ve been planning this weekend away with Krystal for months, it cost me $800 for those two nights in a tiny home outside Windorah.”

“If coach is fuming now, wait til I tell him I’ll be missing two weeks of finals to go get hitched in Bali, and I’m taking half the forward pack with me…”

More to come.
