As the footballing world continues to debate just how badly the Manchester City Football Club should be punished, a rather left field suggestion has been thrown up.

Powerbrokers in English football are apparently set to call for the Premier League to punish Man City by sending them all the way down to the A-League.

The radical punishment follows speculation that City will be relegated from the Premier League, and then handed another points penalty that ensures they don't bounce straight back up for at least a season.

The threat of sending them down to the 3rd tier of English football was deemed too mean and disruptive to the teams in the 3rd tier who honestly and decently fight and scrap for promotion, instead of just buying it.

This comes after City were found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges of financial foul play, which essentially saw them cheating their way to a whole bunch of silverware by spending the endless money of the Abu-Dhabi backed city group.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, a spokesperson from the Premier League, who is well aware of the power and influence of the kind of money the City Group have, explained that A League solution was considered the perfect one.

"Get them out of the country, for a couple of years," they explained.

"They can go and play in front of 5,000 on a Sunday arvo in Macarthur and learn their lesson."

"Maybe Haaland and a few of the lads will stay (breaks into laughter) loyal and enjoy a couple of seasons in Aus."

"Which will be great for growing the game."

"That'll learn em."
