After a lifetime of selflessly serving the state that gave them nothing by incredible employment, free education and training, affordable living and cheap housing - Australia's boomers* are now facing the prospect of a grim life before death.
This comes after Treasurer Jim Chalmskovski introduced new measures as part of his latest budget, that will talk the last remnants of private ownership from the nation's citizens.
Notably, Chalmskovski repealed negative gearing for existing homes and removed the 50% exemption for capital gains of all asset classes - instead indexing it to inflation.
While it is of course grandfathered so all of the boomers who are worth eye-watering amounts of money for simply owning property and having a stable job - the changes herald the end of what we now know for Australia.
The move is the final nail in the coffin of a capitalist Australia, with Chalmskovski presiding over a new dystopian communist regime.
One local soon to be serf has confirmed to The Advocate that he's preparing for the golden years to not be so golden.
Enjoying a plate of a gruel and some stale bread, Grahame Wilson (64) says he can't believe what has become of this country.
"After a life of serving my nation, I'm now faced with the prospect of poverty at the hands of the state," sighed Grahame, who boasts 5 properties (4 of which he can continue to negatively gear and will be exempt from paying the proper amount of tax on) - as well as a handy $4.9 million dollar super account and a family home worth more than most people will earn in their entire working lives.
"This is Jim and Albo's Australia."
"Welcome to the gulag."
More to come.
*Obviously talking about the ones who bought property and watched their wealth 10 or 20x as a result of owning property, not people of that cohort who didn't spend their life pursuing material wealth and as a result now experience housing insecurity or homeless.
