Passengers on the Jetstar flight from Brisbane to Perth have found themselves caught in the crosshairs today, as they were notified in mid air that the trip had been cancelled.

It’s alleged the incident occurred roughly three hours into the flight, with passengers stating that they heard a crackle over the intercom and the captain introducing himself, and had simply assumed he was going to mention something about buying snacks or recite a sponsored passage – or worst case scenario, a warning for turbulence or a potential delay in arrival time.

However, the passengers were soon left looking at each other in confusion, as they were notified that the plane would actually be descending in thirty minutes, and not in two hours.

“Hi everyone, Captain David here. We’re very sorry, but we’ve just been informed that this flight has now been cancelled.”

“We’ll be landing in Port Augusta in roughly thirty minutes, so prepare for descent.”

“Thank you for choosing Jetstar.”

A bloke who’d boarded that flight informs The Advocate that the cabin crew had simply shrugged and said ‘I dunno’ when queried by the passengers, and had offered a complimentary cup of coffee to anyone who looked particularly irate.

He was later informed that the emergency landing was due to ‘staffing issues’, but that they didn’t elaborate any further.

More to come.
