A local pub goer has this evening crashed and burned, following his mutual friend vacating the table to take a leak.
Jimmy Pearce’s good mate, Danny Brown, figured he’d bring his work friend Todd to their scheduled Saturday arvo piss up upon hearing he also enjoys a few cold ones after a long week at the office.
And while Pearce was fine with it, what he did pick up on was how easily the conversation flowed when both friends were rebounding off Brown, causing him to get a little anxious at the inevitable instance of his good mate leaving to wring out the snake.
“Look, we were all getting along fine, Todd seems like a decent guy too," Pearce commented at the bar, getting the next round.
“But I think I overestimated my ability to have a one-on-one conversation with a bloke I haven’t known since high school.”
“Shit got grim for a second there.”
The shit Pearce refers to is the 93-second silence, with both parties fixated on the TV displaying Tipping Point and letting out slight gasps following a coin just almost getting over the edge.
“My mate almost went on there actually," Todd finally blurted out.
“Oh that’s good," was Pearce’s reported response.
The brutal lull in banter or any sort of conversational substance whatsoever was finally broken when Brown returned to the table, with both men letting out an audible sigh of relief.
At the time of publication, Pearce was attempting to hijack his pissing cycle to align with Brown’s schedule.
More to come.
