Karl Rips Into Abbott “I Wouldn’t Fucking Trust You With My Wife At My Wedding”

If you haven’t seen it, YOU NEED TO SEE IT.

This morning on the Today show, co-host Karl Stefanovic appeared to reach boiling point with the illusive Tony Abbott.

In a video that has since been removed from all forms of online media, Karl Stefanovic took it up to Mr Abbott, after he said he wished “the Labor Party wasn’t in such a feral mood” over helping repair the budget.

Karl takes the Prime Minister to the cleaners. A verbal spray for the history books.
Karl takes the Prime Minister to the cleaners. A verbal spray for the history books.

“With respect, you were fairly feral in Opposition weren’t you, I mean the greatest respect by that, and … why would [Bill Shorten] do anything different when it worked for you?” Stefanovic asked.

“The reality is here that the budget position is in a shambles and every day it does get worse,” the Channel Nine host went on.

“It’s not in a shambles Karl,” Mr Abbott hit back.

“No one is buying what you are selling, what you are laying down. That is the problem,” Stefanovic replied.

The Prime Minister insisted that the “budget started to come under control the day the government changed”.

“Now, I don’t pretend that this parliament has been easy for us, not for a second do I pretend this parliament is easy for us, but we have already made substantial changes.”

But it didn’t end there, with Mr Abbott asked whether he was “worried” that he might be a “one-term wonder”.

Karl Stefanovic venomously dug in the boot with a verbal spray that showed a far more political-charged side to the television personality.

“Mate, you’ve got rocks in your head if you think we are buying your shit. I spend each day of my life answering to the greasiest media executives you’ve ever met… I would still take their word over yours. I wouldn’t f**king trust you with my wife at my wedding!”

Abbott responded quite sternly to Stefanovic’s outburst

“Just remember who you are talking to, Karl”

Karl returned fire once again

“I know exactly who I’m talking to. A backward, bank worshipping, concrete cowboy. You are nothing more than a former amateur boxer… But you act like you’ve taken as many hits to the head as Fenech. I’m sorry Tony, but I don’t like being lied to.”

Karl Stefanovic then removed himself from the set while the Prime Minister was still on the air. He is yet to comment publicly on the outburst.

I think you should be very careful about racial stereotyping people in your argument
You are disparaging the interviewers comments by using a cheap shot

Nowhere in the actual video did Karl say anything like what was suggested in this article quotes regarding having a proper go at Abbott. You have some accurate transcript then followed by bullsh!t . The video is available online (again bullsh! That it is removed) and he wraps up nice and friendly with Abbott, not storming off after giving him a serve.

They are both goons and you should all research before buying into the media circus.

I wondered if it was just me that remembered this interview differently. Karl certainly didn’t take any shit from Tony but remained quite professional I thought. It was great to see someone from the media finally talking “real” to Tony. Thanks for confirming I didn’t imagine the way it really happened.

Karl I watch Today most mornings, and I have for most parts enjoyed your humour. However over the last year you seem to have become a little too comfortable in your position, and it seems that perhaps your professional prestige has indeed- inflated your head. Some days I have to switch channels as when watching you, it seems as though you are hard pressed to sit still on your seat and a little too over confident, and your humour is off the mark to the point of ridiculous. Karl on those days I have found myself wondering what you are doing in the toilet in between sets.
Mr Abbott was well within his rights to remind you of your place.
If your going to attack the Prime Minister of Australia do your homework, remember a little bit of Journo cred, use your great wit which you can be great, but mostly keep it proffessional.
I think maybe its time for a change!
Mr Abbott does have a big job post Gillard, cleaning up a terrible mess no doubt, but if he doesnt make some effective changes He may well find a whole country of Karl’s calling out for his head, or setting up tents on his lovely manicured grounds as they lose their homes because their businesses are taken from them, and thats exactly what his 1 term in the spotlight will be remembered for!

The fact that he removed himself from set shows that he was clear headed enough not to resort to anything physical, which is where I would have taken the discussion. Perhaps Karl would like to consider a life in politics? I know there would be a lot of people around Australia that would support him. He couldn’t possibly do a worse job than the current mob.

Missed the interview … Annoyed but not surprised its been pulled. I have predicted every federal election win by media coverage alone, so am very aware that the people are brainwashed into believing that the politician will do for the people when in reality they just line their own pockets and get a huge filthy pension at the end of their term. Mr Abbott who do you think you are. If you don’t know the people are pissed at you and your governments ways don’t be disgruntled when Karl tells you where your at, eat humble pie and own your shit and ungag the interview.

For too long I have been embarrassed that we are becoming sheep that follow the crowd. Our opinions stay quiet while we become more and more dis-enchanted with the leaders of our day, yet we have no voice to express this, nor would they listen anyway. Our leaders continue to pat themselves on the back and give each other pay rise after pay rise. Our lives become more and more of a battle to stay afloat, however if you have money non of that is of concern. We are not the generations of united community voice but rather too busy with trying to move our own lives forward and too tired to fight together to force change. Empowerment of people’s choice starts with one small act, though Carl’s words may not have been the revolution we all hope for . Being strong enough to express one’s true opinion , can only be held with high regard. Respect comes to those who earn it, and for your corage so speak your own words rather than a script to nation wide audience. Carl you have mine.

What ever happened to media presenters having a neutral view in an interview? Very unprofessional Karl, I expected more. You should never bring your personal feelings or views into an interview. Further more you should have more respect for the leader of this country regardless of your feelings for him. Try pulling that crap in Russia Karl, you wouldn’t wake up in the morning.

How does this qualify as Karl Stefanovic changing the world? Read the two paragraphs of “outburst dialogue”. All he did was tell Abbott that he doesn’t trust him, called him names and then bailed on the interview. Not once did he say anything with political or economic value that could have contributed to a meaningful discussion. As soon as someone calls a politician (from either party) a dickhead, the public start celebrating them as a hero..

Not to mention this entire article is fake. How convenient thats theres no traces of it online. If it was true it would have been broadcast live on channel nine for thousands to see

As inappropriate as his comments may have been, they were voiced in exactly the way most Australians would of. Big deal he’s the prime minister, he deserves to hear it exactly how it is.

This is a total fabrication of the ending of the interview. None of the last exchange with the swearing ever happened. Nor did Karl walk away with Abbot still on the air. The interview was concluded appropriately. Yes Karl asked some confronting questions of The PM but the swearing and apparent conclusion of the interview is a total exaggeration and did not happen. Also I’m not an Abbot supporter if you think it sounds like I am, not even close. I wish Karl had said these things to Abbot, unfortunately he just didn’t. I truely hope he is a one term wonder and gets voted out as soon as physically possible.

However as much as I support Karl for his outwardly honesty towards the PM, I do not believe he should be on television either. Most of the time he behaves like he is on drugs or drunk.

That’s great work there from Karl, and I am looking forward his new interview series Channel 9 is rushing out to capitalise on his newfound popularity. The series, apparently named “Karl Comments” features interviews with a number of controversial celebrities being asked questions by Karl in his newfound “interrogative” style. They include Rolf Harris (Karl asks “How many ‘kangaroos’ have YOU tied down you dirty old perv ?”), Clive Palmer (“Aren’t you just a fat rich d!ckhead with more money than sense ?”) and Officer Wilson, the alleged killer cop from Ferguson (“Why do you kill niggas, cracker ? Disgusting behaviours from someone who is supposed to be a professional. No matter what your polital bias there must be respect for the position of our Prime Minister. If we allow ourselves as a nation to be insulting and disrespectful to our PM we are degrading ourselves as a nation. Julia Gillard was the worst Prime Minister in the history of this country, but when those students threw sandwiches at her I was appalled. Where is the respect? Karl should know better and should apologise and all Australians should be ashamed. Can you imagine if such things were said in Thailand? He would be in jail.
If we lose basic respect for our leaders we will degrade to a rabble. All those left wingers who supported Karl’s comments show themselves to be the bogan’s so typical of the left wing of politics.

Are we that selfish that we are happy to let our kids pay bills we’ve racked up over the last decade or so? Judging by what I’m reading here, we are. I don’t see anyone here venting their fury at the politican’s who caused this mess. What about letting rip at Kevin 07, Gillard & Shorten who by and large caused the financial shit fight we now find ourselves in? No I didn’t think so. Does anyone out there in Bogan land understand the meaning of the word ‘hypocrites’? No one is asking any of you to like the PM or any PM for that matter, however this was a very cheap shot given that the PM had no possible way to defend himself because no matter what his response was, it was always going to be wrong. What gives Mr Stefanovich (or anyone else for that matter) the right to denigrate the office of PM and humiliate a man personally on national TV? How the f**k would you like to be treated this way?. Grow up and apologise Mr Stefanovich! Its very bloody easy to be critical when your arse isn’t in the firing line isn’t it? What a disgrace!

Someone has to fix our budget and since all Australia wants including yourself is provide for everyone and it doesn’t matter where the money is coming from. That is why the country is going into a recession. I hope the Liberal party loses in the next election and let the Labour Party get in and do more damage and lets all end up like Greece where it will be too hard to try and fixed the country. Ya you go Karl. Idiot. Think you know how to balance the economy. With all the idiots above who applauded you. It is sickening to think the above people who commented are financially sound Because it will come to a day where the unemployment will get worst and if they think then the unemployment money they are getting and the poor pensioner will disappear than let see who will end up better off. I was raised in a Liberal household. Abbott may purport to fixing the economy from the debt and deficit disaster he keeps on reeling out, and I hear him talk about doing it for our kids. Well, we may have a strong economy in 20 yrs thanks to him, we just won’t be able to live on this planet because he ignored current environmental issues. While I agree with Karl’s sentiments entirely, prime time TV is probably not the appropriate forum.

They all lie and then come back with another lie to cover up the previous lie, then they have the gall to actually believe it all.. I feel like I’m watching Faulty Towers except these people are supposed to be running our country and looking after the people and the countries finances. They have forgotten why they are there and need a total overhaul on their own behaviors. We the people employ and pay for these liars and we sit back and just go, it’ll be right mate. At last someone has had the guts to stand up and be counted. We should all be cheering for Karl. What a joke, here in lies the problem with society and the people in todays world.

Karl should be sacked for his comments and all the morons posting here show why the world is in the horrible place it is.

You do not need to like Abbott, it is pretty hard to like this guy, but I was raised to respect people, you do not need to like him but you should still show him respect, question him and call him out yes, but the things Karl said are not acceptable from a so called professional.

This shows how far society has fallen when you can speak like this to the PM and its accepted and people actually applaud it, shame really, no respect anymore in todays society.

It does not matter who you vote for, nobody should speak in such a manner to the head of the Country, if Karl decided he did not like the Queen would he speak to her in such ways?

There is no respect, no morals, no honour in todays world as led by Karl and all those on the bandwagon here.

Ps.. Abbott still needs to go but surely we can do it with a bit of class, not acting like teenagers which seems to be the mentality on those posting here.

There’s the typical journalist who report on matters, then there’s those like Karl who read their scripts to please the higher man above to get to where he’s really wanting to be!
What a difficult position for our Prime Minister and this government to begin decreasing Australia’s debt that was kindly left in an awful state by the previous Labor government!! Everyone complains about politics regardless who is running the country, why don’t we just give a little credit to Mr Abbott for doing his best to decrease our debt!
I, as an Australian & voter is absolutely delighted the boats have decreased under his givernment, & you have got to wonder how much extra $$$ that alone is that saving us. How much did each boat landing cost us to support – house/detain, clothe, feed, educate & any other hidden expendure??! Patience people! Giving this government a fair go! They deserve their term to get Australia in better shape, or at least prove to the real Australians they are at least making head way to make it better for us & decrease our debt!

I don’t watch morning shows as they are absolute drivel and pseudo-journalism. The sentiments expressed by Karl were right and it is what most thinking Australians feel. There is no excuse for constantly breaking promises. The Abbott government is spineless, reckless, irresponsible and blame shifting. They have not achieved one thing that actually helps human beings. Their policies are a world wide shame and disgrace from climate change to refugees. Not one dollar one the GP co-payment goes to fund the “in crisis” Medicare but ultimately goes to an American pharmaceutical company as a research fund. It won’t even create jobs for Australian Scientists but that’s alright because with the massive increase in HECS fees, we won’t have any Scientists in this country. Some of these policies did not get passed by the Senate because they are not in the interest of the Australian people. All our tax payers’ dollars are funding politicians to dance around in Parliament making fools out of all of us trying to get defunct policies through that don’t actually help this country at all. Worst government in the history of Australia.

I found the video of the interview and it wasn’t nearly as dramatic as made out. I didn’t hear anything like:

Unless the two had another interview, a day later, with exactly the same dialogue in the first four minutes and then got crazy, I’m not really buying this article. No wonder it’s in the entertainment section of this website.

I’m sick of Australian Politics being about entertainment and not about really talking about the issues!!

I like the sentiment that Karl has displayed here, it is what a lot of Australians are feeling, including myself. However I do believe Karl went too far and at the end was disrespectful. Some may say that Tony Abbott deserved it considering the job he has done thus far. But like him or not, Tony Abbott should be afforded more respect as he is the Prime Minister of this country. Disagree with his policies? Fine. Disagree with his management of the country? Feel free to challenge some decisions he’s made and force him to explain why he choose to do those things. But when it becomes a personal attack I believe that is when Karl stepped over the line. Debate can happen in a respectful fashion. And unfortunately I think Karl got lost in his own vitriol. He is the Prime Minister of the country not Karl’s chew toy.

seems to be a bit of bullsht floating around. for one thing , the video is available online (see link below) I watched it to the end, they were both happy when they said their goodbyes at the end of the interview, and I didn’t hear any comments like:

“Mate, you’ve got rocks in your head if you think we are buying your shit. I spend each day of my life answering to the greasiest media executives you’ve ever met… I would still take their word over yours. I wouldn’t f**king trust you with my wife at my wedding!”

I think this article was possibly someones imagination, and not worth reading!

Your total disrespect to the Prime Minister of Australia reflects your lack of professionism as a journalist. I am shocked and disgusted by this abhorrent behaviour. I would have had him breath tested after that outburst!!! Shame on you Karl whatever your last name is, I am so glad I watch ABC News.

And for all of you who are hiding behind this thug, have you forgotten already why the current government was elected in the last elections? You definitely are all suffering from short term memory loss, you lot!!! They are trying to fix up the Labor mess, as they always do each time Labor loses the election.

Again shame on you Karl, whatever your last name is; you are not the best broadcast journalist that ever happened to Australian television.

Everything is beat up out of proportion and Karl is jumping on that train and taking it to the next level with anything he reports on.

Get enough people to do a vote of no confidence on him? Its not like Australia hasn’t had the govener general force the parliament in history before. It may be messy but if you want him gone so bad it may work. The people are stronger together than alone. And have more power than the government if they stand together. All that has been done here is show that those rabble who have a HATE for Abbott and the Libs will clutch at any carrot dangled in front of them to string him up. Any headline with just a whif of anti-Abbott sentiment gets whipped into a hate frenzy especially when incorrect social commentary attached to the dodgy headline is believed without verification. I saw this interview live, and I do not believe the last comments were actually said (or at least not aired). Aside from that, I believe the media should try to stay neutral where possible – it is completely unprofessional to push your own political views on others in that way. Personally, I don’t have strong political views for either side, however the Prime Minister (or anyone, for that matter) should not be spoken to in that way. I would have said the same thing if this happened to Rudd or Gillard when they were in power.
