The rugby league world has been rocked this week, by revelations that the newest NRL franchise is making a splash.
The Papua New Guinea Chiefs have set tongues wagging after dropping a bombshell first signing for the new franchise.
The chiefs have landed star premiership winner, Samoa rep, blues players and Wests Tigers captain Jarome Luai.
The stunning announcement which came out of nowhere (after the Alex Johnston signing got leaked) has floored the game, with the single move blowing the Perth Bears recruitment drive out of the water.
With one of the most winningest players in the game and the all time leading try-scorer signing for the new franchise from 2028, many are now asking who's next.
And The Advocate can now reveal who the next signing should be, according to its vast team of rugby league gossip analysts.
None other than star halfback Nathan Cleary.
"It's a no brainer," said Betoota NRL Gossip Consultant Berrigan Braxton.
"Obviously there's the whole tax free rivers of gold that Nath would get."
"But then you add in the fact that he's played with Romey for the majority of his footy career all the way up from Under 14s or whatever."
"And then you add in the PNG connection of his better half, who is overseas most of the year playing football anyway."
"And you start seeing a great case for Nate to go and cement his legacy as one of the greats of the game, who helped spearhead a historic new franchise for the league and game..."
"All sounds pretty tasty right?"
Our reporter nodded.
More to come.
