A man from South Australia's wang has admitted today that he's still baffled how a vote for One Nation at this month's state election has translated into him being represented in parliament by a homosexual who used his maiden speech to profess his love to a Muslim immigrant.
Minlaton patriot Rodney Squatch spoke briefly to The Advocate this morning about how his quite farming community is reeling from the frank admissions made by Jason Virgo, the new One Nation member for Narungga.
"It has raised a few eyebrows, it has," said the 66-year-old semi-retired farmer, who has recently handed the reigns over to his middle son, Mark.
"Yep, ah, the boy and I went down in to the pub, Minlo pub for dinner the other night and we ran into some friends who, uh, yep, uh, yep, ah we certainly had a discussion about it. We all voted for One Nation here, why not. No bastard from Adelaide ever comes out here, we on the skin of our arse most of the time,"
"Been hard to get a good barley crop in recent years, it's all fucked it is, never seen droughts like it, never seen floods like the ones we seen, either. It's fucked. But anyway, had we known he was a bloody horse's hoof that's sharing sheets with a Muslim of all people, we probably would've just voted for some half-mad independent. They reckon he was in with that Sex Party mob and Labor, too. How the fuck has he ended up with Pauline? I'm glad I'm old, these world's going to shit, it is."
Mr Squatch is correct in his assumption that Jason Virgo is a former member of the Sex Party and attempted to run for office a number of times, including with SA Labor. He was unsuccessful each time, until he won preselection with One Nation earlier this year.
The news of Mr Virgo's private life has sent shockwaves through the York Peninsula community. Especially as SA One Nation leader Cori Bernardi is pound-for-pound one of the greatest homophobes in living Australian memory. Now, the two of them need to shake hands and move on, for the betterment of One Nation and their core message of getting elected.
More to come.
