Recent political developments coming out of Germany today have revealed that there is still nothing to worry about in Europe's largest economy.

Despite its history, the rise of a charismatic far-right leader and a populist party promising to leave the EU, cozy up to Russia and establish an American style ICE force is obviously nothing that should concern anyone fond of the relative peace Europe has enjoyed for the past 80 years.

"Yep, I wouldn't worry, this will definitely pass" said a leading German historian.

The AFD’s victory in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, which curiously also has one of the lowest immigrant populations in Gemrnay, saw the party take around 44 per cent of the vote, comfortably beating the governing CDU and recording the strongest far-right result in a German state election since the Second World War.

Luckily, history has repeatedly demonstrated that periods of economic neglect, political disillusionment and growing resentment towards minority groups almost never develop into anything particularly serious, especially in Germany.

The fact the AFD is also polling strongly nationwide, backed by the richest man in the world, wants closer ties with Moscow and has spent years pushing increasingly hardline anti-immigration policies has similarly been dismissed as another harmless trait of modern European politics.

Political experts continue to encourage everyone to remain calm, and to especially stop drawing historical parallels, and trust that intuitions will hold together civil German society like they did last time.

For now, Europeans and the rest of the freedom-loving world can rest easy knowing that there is absolutely zero reason to be concerned about any of this.
