As each week passes, the world comes closer to the staggering realisation that robots are about to be able to replicate almost anything a human does.

This week that realisation was induced by the steel springs of a humanoid robot who (is that what we say now?) broke Usain Bolt's hundred metre record.

The stunning run from the Star Wars looking drone came at the Humanoid Robot Olympics in Beijing over the weekend.

Tiangong Ultra, developed by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, clocked a 9.39 second run.

The run was over twice as fast as its run last year, in a rather scary example of how quickly this shit can develop.

However, while the leaps and bounds in technology are rapidly disintegrating the worth of most office and manual labor people - there is still a fair way to go it can be confirmed.

"Yeah let me know when AI or these humanoid robots can truly replicate the human experience," laughed a young community spokesperson from the foyer cafe underneath our newsroom.

"I'd like to see one of those robots turn a pencil or pen into rubber in the broad light of day," laughed the South Betoota Polytechnic student who is studying some course that will be replaced by AI in a few years time.

"Or get one of the school bins, drag it down to a secluded part of the school oval and blow up deodorant cans in there."

"Sure, it can run a 100 metres faster than Josh Add0-Carr, but until it can do other cool shit like I mentioned - not interested."
