A Betoota Heights woman is today on edge her friends and family may have already received malicious messages and links originating from her online accounts.
The angst comes after 26 year old Zara Hopper accidentally clicked on a vaguely sketchy link while trying to find a film to watch for the evening.
“I was no stranger to 123movies and Gomovies and all that when I was a teenager, and yeah that did actually give my computer a virus once,”
“So realistically I should've known better. Obviously a Louis Vuitton bag at less than half price isn’t legit but I was just so excited in the moment.”
Upon entering the website, Zara says she immediately knew it wasn’t the real deal.
Though she quickly closed the tab, the young woman says she couldn’t shake the feeling that it had already managed to infiltrate her computer’s software.
“I googled ‘how to stop a virus’ and stuff and it says my Mac already has like inbuilt stuff to prevent it, but idk, it just feels off,”
“Anyway, I ended up turning my wifi off and going to sleep because I was so freaked,”
“And now I’m kind of just like, when will I know I’ve got a virus? Like what do I actually do?”
“I feel like I need to send out a message to everyone i know and tell them what happened, especially my boss, like can you imagine he gets some weird video in his inbox from me and then I'm immediately fired,”
“Fuck fuck fuck this is actually bad. I’m probably already fucked.”
