It’s fairly well known the dating pool can be rather dire these days, so single man Tom Marlow likes to make it clear he’s one of the good ones straight out the gate.
By now, the Brisbane bachelor had managed to test out a handful of trusted ways to communicate this. Wearing a pearl necklace was pretty foolproof until it wasn’t.
However, during a date with 26 year old Amelia Miles yesterday morning, Tom may have finally settled on the perfect method.
That is, he attended a gay wedding in 2024. And it was in Tasmania. Beautiful. He loved it. Had a ball.
Which is why it wasn’t too difficult to slip in when Amelia mentioned the fact she’d be her sister's maid of honour come October.
“Oh that’s awesome,” Tom said, “I love weddings, such good vibes.”
“I went to one recently actually, my good mate Toby married his husband down in Tassie. It was a blast.”
He was stretching it a bit here. Toby was actually best mates with Tom’s younger sister, Daisy. He briefly considered his and Amelia’s future as a couple, and assessed how awkward it’d be if this came to light eventually. Eh, he decided. Worth it.
Though Amelia did her best to conceal her surprise, Tom could tell her interest piqued.
“He’s one of the good ones,” Amelia confirmed to our reporter.
“An awful straight man would obviously never be invited. And I trust their judgement, even without ever having met them.”
“This is such a breath of fresh air compared to all these evil men I keep meeting.”
The pair have reportedly scheduled a second date for Thursday evening.
More to come.
