A recent poll conducted by the University of Betoota has provided some relief for the Victorian Labor party.

The poll revealed that 72% of respondents were happy for underworld crime figures to construct  the airport rail link if they can get it done by 2030 - and try not to take the piss too hard with the variations.

Fresh allegations of corruption within Victoria’s ‘Big Build’ infrastructure projects are putting serious pressure on the Labor Party.

Premier Jacinta Allan has put the alleged $15 billion dollar cost blow out down to inflation.

The scandal could prove costly for the Labor party who are seeking a historic fourth term in November.

However, it appears that there are plenty of Victorians who don’t really care.

The Advocate spoke with Betoota University’s leading statistical analyst Simon Gray about the poll's findings.

“From the polling we’ve conducted so far, Victorians don’t seem to care who builds stuff as long as they build it”

“We asked participants how they felt about the airport rail project and unsurprisingly the there was overwhelming support for it”

“But here’s the interesting part, when participants were asked whether or not they would still support that same project if it were built by bikies, over seventy percent responded yes,” he said

Mr Gray clarified that further statistical analysis is being conducted.

“We’re still trying to figure out exactly why Victorians are so chill about criminal figures shaping the city, maybe they are just really sick of the Sky Bus,” he chuckled.

This isn’t the first time the Victorian Labor party's brand has been tarnished by reports of criminal activity within the construction sector.

Nevertheless, the party has governed the state for 22 of the past 26 years.

Victorian Liberals are desperately hoping the public's tepid support for bikies dwindle come November.

More to come.
