A now avid enjoyer of true crime content, Sammy Grayson (29) has today taken a moment to reflect on her humble beginnings.
Though these days she typically favours podcasts, freelance YouTubers and high-budget Netflix documentaries, there was a time where tuning into ABC after school satiated her macabre curiosity.
At this time, the British cartoon ‘Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids’ would grace television screens in households across the nation.
From the first moment that creepy old man narrator appeared, warning the program was only for “true lovers of SQUEEEMMM!!!”, Sammy was hooked.
“Yep. That's what started it. Grizzly tales for gruesome kids. It was so fucking creepy but something about it just felt so right.”
“There was this one about this kid who won’t sleep so this man turns up in the middle of the night, straight up peels off his eyelids, puts them on his, and then floats away out the window and the kid can never sleep again.”
“Like how fucked up is that for a 7 year old to see. But I was down with it. It didn’t spook me. That’s when I knew I was probably going to end up a true crime girlie forever.”
“But I will say, Netflix has nottt been pulling through recently. Like I’m sorry but I can’t spend another two hours of my life watching snapchat clips.”
“Anyway. So yeah. I’m starting to rinse all these podcasts and that so I’m open to suggestions.”
More to come.
