The office of Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers has reportedly begun automatically filtering out any emails sent from @bigpond email addresses, as debate around potential capital gains tax changes reaches fever pitch among post-war Australians.
Staffers confirmed the move came after an overwhelming influx of strongly worded emails written in size 18 font, many of which opened with phrases like “self-made man” or “As a taxpayer of 47 years…”.
“We’re not saying all @bigpond users are spoilt and irrational boomers,” one advisor clarified.
“But we are saying that every email we’ve received from a @bigpond account this week has included at least one mentions of 'communist Labor bastards' and a vague threat to 'vote for Pauline',"
The filter reportedly redirects these emails into a folder for some poor intern to look at later, where they join thousands of archived complaints about negative gearing and the ABC.
Sources say the decision has already improved workplace morale, with staff no longer required to decipher long, unpunctuated paragraphs about how the country is going to the dogs because all of the people that made something of themselves are being forced to pay for the decadent lifestyles of worthless junkies and whores who get paid for every baby they pop out.
Meanwhile, affected email users have begun adapting, with some attempting to bypass the filter by creating new Gmail accounts, though insiders say these are easily identifiable by subject lines written entirely in capital letters.
Despite criticism, the Treasurer’s office maintains the policy is temporary.
