Sky News viewer and truth seeker Glen Wolbridge (65) has this week been quick to smugly point out the lack of "real" French players on the French national team.
"I mean so what if they win, all they do is import their players anyway. Europe has bloody fallen I tell ya!" he explained.
Despite the entire squad being born in France (except one player born in England), Glen remains convinced France's immigration policy is responsible for the "Africanisation" of its national team, rather than the fact France spent centuries forcing half of Africa to speak French, act french, attend French schools, fight in the French army and adopt European sports.
"I don't care about all that history, they aren't French!" he lamented.
While many of the French national team's players of African descent have grandparents that were born in the French colonial empire and have been connected to France longer than Glen's ancestors have been in Australia, he refuses to accept their 'Frenchness.'
When asked if it was because of the colour of their skin, Glen profusely denied the suggestion.
"Not at all, in fact, you're the racist one for even suggesting that!"
"All I'm saying is that just because your grandparents fought for France in WW1 and WW2, and your parents were both born and raised in France, and you were born and raised in France, and you represented France on the world stage, doesn't make you French!!"
"Is it really that confusing!?"
