Some guy that used to live here but lives in New York now has had a chance encounter with fabled Steve Smith overnight at a Queens nightclub.
"Shh.. shh.. shouldn't you be getting ready for South Africa?" he said right off the bat.
Smith reportedly turned around slowly and smiled at the guy.
"Yeah, ha ha." he said.
That's where the man's memory escapes him again, the vignette of his encounter with one of the greatest living batsmen stored in it against all odds.
The Advocate reached out to Smith's manager, an 11-year-old beagle called Beans, for comment but have yet to receive a reply.
The First Test against South Africa is set to start on the 9th of October in Durban. It's our first time there since The Great Unpleasantness of 2018.
