A local young woman is walking around Betoota with an extra hop in her step today after a visit with Nan left her feeling ready to walk the Victoria Secret Fashion show this week.
After returning to her hometown of Betoota after living in the big smoke for the past year, 29 year old Amy Shannon decided to visit her 85 year old Nan, Prue Shannon.
Prue greeted Amy with a big hug followed inappropriately by “gosh you have gotten skinnier.”
Amy, who was pretty confident she had not lost any weight in the past year, couldn’t believe the compliment.
“No like I’ve been eating out so much in the city and haven’t signed up to a gym yet so it’s pretty impossible I’ve gotten skinnier,” Amy told our reporter.
“Also you’re just so not meant to say that to someone.”
Amy denied Prue’s comment by saying an outraged “Nan!” To which Prue ignored and continued to get shortbread out of the pantry.
“You could get cancelled for that sort of observation these days,” Amy told The Advocate.
However inappropriate the comment was, Amy couldn’t help but feel flattered knowing her Nan is probably the most honest person she knows.
“Yes I’m perfectly happy with my weight and body.”
“And yes I went and bought low rise jeans at the closest Westfield after my visit to Nans.”
