Rocky Locked In For Olympic Rowing After QLD Premier Strikes Deal With Katters To Resolve Current Environmental Hurdles

Organisers of the Brisbane Olympics have today made a stunning announcement, revealing that the rowing events will be heading to the regions!

After months of debate, the IOC, World Rowing and Paddle Worldwide have endorsed the independent technical assessment for the Fitzroy River.

"The Fitzroy has passed with flying colours. It's official, signed, sealed and delivered," said Premier Crisafulli this morning.

The sign off will now see the entire global rowing community swerve the Olympic city and head up to Queensland's Capricorn Coast.

Concerns had initially been raised about environmental concerns - namely the large saltwater crocodiles that are known to frequent the Fitzroy River.

However, those concerns have been hosed down by assurances from the Katter family that they'll head down a few days early and clear up the area.

Speaking to The Advocate for well over an hour this morning, the head of the Great North Katter Family, Bob Katter, explained that it shouldn't be too much trouble.

In summary, he said;

"Well look, it won't be so much of an environmental clean up, because at the end of the day, the people of North Queensland have been looking after the environment since the beginning of time, and I won't have you, or any journalist start questioning that, and these crocodiles are pests when it comes to the Fitzroy River and you need the pest man to get rid of them, which I'm happy to be in this case, because you sure as hell know if there's oxygen running through this respiratory system well I'll make sure I do my bit to ensure the crocodiles of the Fitzroy don't stop the Capricorn's moment in the sun."
