Report: Blokes Just Having A Quiet Beer Stay A Bit Too Long And End Up In Pub's Nightlife Facebook Album

A couple blokes this week have ended up on a local pub's nightlife photo album after a quiet beer turned into a few.

The blokes, who are old mates, had been meaning to catch up for ages. Both are flat out at work, run off their feet by the kids and devoted husbands who, by their own admission, do a lot.

It leaves little time for this kind of thing, but with a month's run up and a bit of negotiation, they've got themselves an evening to finally blow the cobwebs out.
It began last Wednesday down at popular French Quarter watering hole, The Gelded Seahorse. The blokes walked in after work and embraced with a hug.

Trading trivial war stories about family life. One of them actually got Hand, Foot And Mouth Disease from their toddler and it "fucked them up" for a month. The other won $10,000 backing Shinzo in the 2023 Golden Slipper but ended up just putting on his credit card. Pretty mature, they both agree.

As the sun began to set, their alcohol-induced time blindness became so bad, not even Ted Noffs himself could make them see again.

One of them came back with pints. Pints of heavy. The other laughed. Let's get a pack of smokes from the machine over there. $62? Fuck it, when in Rome. They laugh at the expense and head outside. They're out there until 8pm.

When they come in, they post up back in the sports bar. One says it's probably time to go, everyone around them is between the age of 18 and 21. Let's just have one more pint, then we'll go get a kebab. They agree, only one of them means it.

As he comes back with the alleged last two pints of heavy, the pub's nightlife photographer comes around and goes "hey boys, photo?" and doesn't wait for an answer. Bang.

And there it is. Two blokes, in their 40s, high on Carlton Draught and nicotine, in the Geldy Nights Facebook album for all eternity.

Kids around town in recent days have been left wondering who these two random men are in this sea of images of them and their peers. There's obviously nothing untoward or weird about it. It's just two old mates who got a little bit too pissed and ended up staying a bit too long at the pub.

More to come.
