Queenslander Visiting Central America Wonders When He'll Eat Some Real Mexican Food Like They Have At Montezuma’s

A Queenslander who is currently visiting Mexico for the first time has confirmed the authentic dishes in no way live up to the standard set by classic restaurant chain Montezuma’s. 

Mount Gravatt local Damon Texi began brainstorming his dream backpacking trip after impulsively resigning from his labouring gig.

“Central America was the only natural course of action as a long time Mexican food lover,” he said. 

"Used to hit that one on Gympie Road all the time back in the day, then I moved southside but luckily there was still one around the corner."

“I actually used to request it as my birthday dinner every year. Then when I was about 18 El Camino popped up and suddenly everyone wants to go there, they’re all like ‘ohhh they do Cocktail towers and free sombreros’.”

“Obviously those people just don’t really know what they’re talking about when it comes to Mexican.”

“Anyway point is I do know and I can tell you with hand over heart Mexico is NOT where it’s at.”

“The whole time I was there, I was just thinkin ‘where can I get an enchilada that is just absolutely buried in about 10 centimetres of melted cheese around here?’”

“Zero albondigas in sight. Now that is a crime.”

“All their food just had way too much going on. Like basically everything was way too fresh.”

“If I wanted Mexican like that I would’ve just stayed home and gone to Zambreros or something, fuck me.”

“Anyway, lesson learnt. Don’t cheat on ye old faithful or it’ll come back to bite you.”

Damon says he has already booked his ConXion bus from Brisbane airport to take him straight to Montezuma’s upon his return.
