Piers Morgan Sues For Defamation Over Something Nowhere Near As Bad As The Shit He’s Done In Real Life

Controversial British broadcaster Piers Morgan is threatening legal action after a fact-checking oversight in Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer’s new book has put his reputation in jeopardy.

In 1993, images of Diana exercising in a private gym were taken without her knowledge and later published in tabloid newspaper the Sunday Mirror. 

In his new memoir ‘Swan Song: Diana, My Sister’ published earlier this week, Earl Spencer seemed to suggest that Piers was behind these images. 

However, at that time, Piers was still working at The Sun. It wasn’t until 1995 that he became editor of the Daily Mirror. 

Though almost certainly something the TV style shock-jock would do, Piers took to his own X account with the word ‘BREAKING’ to let everyone know the Earl’s recollection of events are ‘defamatory lies’ while vowing to pursue legal action. 

Spencer has since apologised for the factual error, but Piers has not backed down, insisting that he will continue the action - with the damages to be paid to the King’s Trust, in true royalist fashion.  

Should the threat develop any further, it will only be the latest instalment in a long list of legal disputes the 61 year old has been involved with during his career. 

In fact, during his time at the Mirror between 1996 and 2004, Piers was involved in a phone hacking scandal, which he was actually only found guilty of in late 2023. 

This included the knowledge of the hacking of abducted schoolgirl Milly Dowler’s phone by private investigators, which gave her family and police false hope she was still alive. 

He also green-lighted the infamous England - Germany front cover ahead of the European Championship semi-final, which featured star athletes wearing WWII helmets.

In the end, he was fired for publishing pictures of the alleged abuse of Iraqi prisoners by British troops that turned out to be completely fake. 

Though Piers conceded he did do all of that stuff, publishing an image of his friend Camilla’s husband's ex-wife in a leotard would just be a step too far. 

“I would never,” he said.
