A pair of young Betoota Heights parents have today confirmed to The Advocate that their priorities in life have slightly changed.

Ashley Hills and Alex Gee spoke briefly to our newspaper this morning about how they no longer take the simple things in life for granted.

One of those things they say, is sick leave.

"God, I would actually love to be sick on the couch, with a bowl of soup, cold and flu, a pile of tissues beginning to mummify me and the 'are you still watching' notification pop up on my TV screen," laughed Ashley who is currently looking after her oldest and currently sickest kid.

The mum of three explained that all of them seem to be sick all the time, but just with varying degrees of severity.

"It's all about temps, and infectious diseases," explained Ashley, who's youngest has just come through the other side of Hand Foot and Mouth.

"Ie, will they be allowed into daycare with a big dose of panadol or nurophen with brekky? Or will they be getting locked out shortly after arriving due to health and safety protocols," said Alex, who has one day of sick leave left.

"Or will the school be calling me to come and pick her up."

Ashley, who has burnt through all of her sick leave on sick days for the kids, says she's doesn't even pay attention to sore throats any more.

"Am I getting sick? Am I sick? It doesn't even matter," she laughed.

"Because today is my last day of sick leave and the grandparents are out of town."

"So I will not be experiencing my newfound appreciation of a sickie any time soon."
