What does a Victorian One Nation candidate actually look like?

Most Australians had no idea that One Nation even existed outside of Queensland and rural New South Wales. However, with Pauline Hanson's candidate winning their first ever lower house seat in Federal Farrer By-Election, it's clear that the party has now broached the Victorian border.

With Melbourne looking like Gotham City, and a tired state government rotating through leaders as Victoria struggles to recover economically from the damage caused by the pandemic - the southern voters are more susceptible to Pauline Hanson's populist messaging than ever.

But without any slow-talking rural Queensland boomers in Victoria, where the hell will she find the talent she needs to field candidates in every state seat.

Pauline Hanson has this week shown us what a Victorian One Nation labor candidate looks like.

In hindsight, we probably could have guessed that they'd be partial to the very liberal application of hair gel - as is also the case with any National Party MP under the age of 55.

But what's more un-surprising is their uniquely Victorian political beliefs.

Victorian leader Warren Pickering has previously dedicated a concerning amount of time to sharing the since debunked "15-minute city" conspiracy theory to facebook - and appears to harbour a deep fear about "globalist bureaucrats" wanting to restrict how Australians live.

He claims the 'noose is tightening' and that Australians are in the "fight of our lives" against the impending cashless economy and digital IDs - which are the "ultimate tools of control".

While considered fringe and potentially unfounded, these views aren't that foreign to the One Nation infrastructure - with Pauline Hanson previously describing '15 minute cities' as the sinister working of a 'secretive international one world government'.

For those unable to translate this extremely online brain-rot language, '15 Minutes Cities' appear to be the conspiracist term for 'suburbs'.

With One Nation now polling above both the major parties, Victorians can look forward to more of this.
