NRL Struggling To Book Grand Final Entertainment Like The Answer Isn't Sitting Right In Front Of Them

The NRL is panicking this week, as competition nears closer to what could be a fairly mundane grand final on the 4th of October.

Especially when compared to this weekend's AFL final, which is expected to break 2026 TV rating records with a showdown between two 'new market' clubs chasing two respective fairytales.

Not only that, but the Queen of Pop herself, Kylie Minogue will be opening this weekend's sporting showdown with a pre-match performance that could fill a stadium regardless of the football.

Meanwhile, The NRL is at risk of boring fans with another grand final appearance from the Penrith Panthers. Even worse the Penrith Panthers could be playing the Sydney Roosters. Two extremely well resourced Sydney clubs that don't know the pain of a premiership drought.

On top of this, the NRL's pre-match performance has fallen through - with Byron singer 'Tones And I' claiming that a deal was never signed.

It has since been reported that booking fell through due to the NRL's insistence Tones And I perform the hit song Dance Monkey, which she had refused to do - which is humorous because there is zero chance that NRL audiences know any of her other songs.

However, Tones and I stuck to her guns and now the NRL find themselves two weeks out from the big day with no artist lined up.

The NRL is trying to save face by claiming they will use the money set aside for pre-match entertainment to contribute to grassroots rugby league.

But the fans want a party. Especially if the NRL grand final ends up being between the same boring old teams that always play grand finals.

Even as the game's executives pretend they are not fussed, it can be revealed that there is currently a scramble to come up with something at NRL's Sydney HQ today.

Some names that have been thrown around include Delta Goodrem, Red Foo - or the NRL's perennial pre-match entertainers, Sheppard!

But the answer could couldn't be more clear. The people want the boom boom.

It's time for NRL Chairman Peter V'Landys to make a phone call. It's time to book the winners of the fourth season of Australia's Got Talent in 2010.
