Mouth-Breathing Bloke Describes Predominately Gay Suburb As “A Bit Out There”

A man with a limited vocabulary and a deep fear of saying a slur has recently described Betoota’s Flight Path district as “a bit out there.” 

38 year old Greg Smithson was enjoying some happy hour beers at his local with some friends visiting from interstate when he decided to give them the lay of the land. 

“They were sort of asking about the surrounding suburbs, where I like to go out for a feed, that sort of thing” Greg explained. 

When Greg’s friends asked about Betoota’s Flight Path District, Greg began to stumble. 

The suburb which is known for its bustling art and performance scene, left swinging politics and rainbow painted zebra crossing, is to no surprise, predominantly gay. With the large majority of its constituents being rich gay terrace house owners or young queer arts students. 

“Like yeah there’s heaps of gay guys there and probably some lesbians but I don’t know if you can call them that anymore” Greg told our reporter. 

“What about like the transgenders there, or do you call them queers, I don’t know!!” 

After stumbling over his words for a couple seconds Greg landed on describing the suburb as “a bit out there” followed by a more confident “grungy!” 

“Grungy felt more appropriate, I was proud of myself for that one.” 

“I mean there is a lot of graffiti and a lot of those dirty looking vintage shops, no offence.” 

While Greg’s friends didn’t question his vague description, he grew worried that his choice of words were still offensive to others in ear shot. 

“You just never know these days, I got told off once for telling a gay coworker he looked fabulous.” 

“Anyway there’s nothing wrong with a bit out there, right?? RIGHT??”
