Mate Who Owns A Projector Instead Of TV Wants To Have A 144p Movie Night

A man in Betoota’s flight path district has today subjected himself to a public humiliation ritual after suggesting to his mates they have a movie night at his place.

Paulie Crapp (30) and his mates had been spending a night at the pub when they began brainstorming a couple activities they could do outside going and sinking multiple pints every week.

“Board game night?” suggested Blake Thomas (29). The group groaned.

“Could go camping out at the Diamantina,” said Artie Wilson (29). Complaints of mozzies and heat and effort resounded across the table.

Paulie piped up.

“Could do a movie night at mine sometime?” he said. “Like next Thursday? Would Thursday work? Bring some beers if you want. I’ll get some Tim Tams and that.”

The boys stayed quiet. Blake jumped up and said he was pretty sure the next round was his.

Our reporter pulled him aside on his way to the bar.

“Look, Paulie’s a nice guy, and his place is actually pretty alright, like the living room is a nice decent size,” he said.

“But he owns a fucking projector. I’m sorry. But I’m not going over to someone's place to watch some shadows move on the wall for three hours straight.”

“You can’t even make it out if you squint. It’s just 5 pixels of the lowest contrast ever. You may as well be watching a black and white movie on film, and the film was dropped in a bucket of water or something, then hung out to dry on a washing line in 35 degree heat.”

“He also closes all the curtains and puts like a black blanket up over the top window and it turns into a proper dungeon in there, it’s creepy. It makes me paranoid.”

“Maybe I’ll suggest we go to Betoota 5 cinemas. Idk. That might work.”

In his daze, Blake accidentally ordered a jug of super crisp.

More to come.
