A 32-year-old French Quarter man is this week desperately trying to prove to his work that he is a man of his word.
This comes after raised eye brows and muffled smiles were spread through his place of work after he turned up at the office this morning, with a black eye, a broken nose and a couple of bruises.
Calling in sick yesterday to go and see a doctor for the potential fracture on his elbow, Harry Brooks explained that his return to the office has been met with a bit of sledging.
"For fucks sake," he sighed to The Advocate this morning in the downstairs cafe area after being asked unprompted by our reporter whether he had a large weekend.
"I legitimately slipped over in the shower and fucked myself up," he laughed.
"I know I know."
"It's a ridiculous thing to say, but I actually did."
Offering up the classic excuse as old as bathrooms themselves, Brooks sighed again.
"My girlfriend had a quick shower on the way out and shampoo and conditioner residue was all over the floor," he pleaded.
"I was getting in to have a shower before bed, and went a over t before you know it."
"Look at the bruise on my elbow mate???"
Brooks explained that his well publicised Friday night blow out with a few mates didn't not set a great base for his Monday sickie.
"I know, it's a battle I'm never gonna win."
"I should have just lied and said I got jumped."
