M1 Looking Like Easter Monday Traffic As Knights Fans Trek To Sydney For Finals Footy

In a national traffic update, the M1 motorway into Sydney is resembling a Westfield carpark this afternoon, as half the township of Newcastle attempt to enter Sydney.

The news comes as the pride of the Hunter Valley, the Newcastle Knights, are set to face off against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Souths home ground at Moore Park, at 7:50pm tonight.

Speaking live to Chief Sydney traffic reporter Vic Lorusso in the Pickles Car Auctions Helicopter, traffic in and around Hornsby is at a standstill.

“Bad news for anyone venturing to Sydney this weekend, very heavy southbound on the M1.”

“We’re talking major major delays, especially along the Mooney Mooney Bridge.

We’ve clocked a minor collision, six Ford Raptors have run up the back of each other and there’s a little bit of biff breaking out between a Singleton diesel fitter and a chippy from Lake Macquarie.”

With the cost of living making it virtually impossible to afford a Sydney hotel room for the night, it’s believed hundreds of thousands of sleep deprived coal miners will likely scull a 700ml iced coffee after the game tonight, and make the trip straight back home.

Speaking to one lively Knights fan, Brad Sharpe (38), tonight’s pilgrimage to Sydney is the first since he last came to attend a Meatstock event back in May this year.

“Nah, I’ll be driving straight back to Kurri tonight, got the kids netball finals tomorrow morning.”

“It’s better to keep these Sydney trips short, sweet and cheap. They sting ya for everything in this city. 

“I’ve brought my own pies there sitting there in my electric hotbox, and I might sneak a longneck of Tooheys in my Yeti bottle. Should be a great night.”
