A woman who moved to Sydney a year ago has slowly discovered that her new friends have had a significantly different upbringing, after being asked to join a skiing trip, it’s reported.

April Lawson [29] tells The Advocate that her biggest culture shock since moving to the big smoke was that everyone seems to be able to ski like it’s a normal, accessible hobby and that she’d had no idea she was the povo friend until now.

“They couldn’t believe I didn’t know how to ski”, she says, “like it was as normal as getting your driver’s licence.”

“Apparently they all used to go on skiing trips with their family and that’s why they’re so good at it?”

“I thought that was just an American thing?”

More to come.
