A Betoota Ponds man is today walking on sunshine, after an absolutely magical weekend of international rugby league.
Harry Winks (31) explained to The Advocate that he's still buzzing following Round 2 of the Rugby League World Cup.
Having been treated to a veritable smorgasbord of sporting events of late, Winks said he's become accustomed to enjoying the finest competition this year.
And he says it was wonderful to appease that refined palette of his from Friday to Sunday, with wall to wall blockbusters across the country.
"Wow, I knew we were on for a special weekend after what Round 1 served up," said Harry, who's been walking around his Betoota CBD job site with a smile seemingly glued to his face.
"And after Fetu Samoa went up 40-0 at half time on Friday, I had a feeling we were on for another corker weekend."
That was then followed by a ding dong battle between Lebanon and Tonga, with the Tongans edging out a nervy 36-0 victory, before both French teams conceded over a point a minute, both Papuan teams got rolled by a big numbers, the poor Cookies ran out of steam and got trounced by 60 odd, and the English women got demolished by the Jillaroos.
The only average fixture of the weekend was the Fijian Bati and the Kangaroos, who played out a dour 36-22 game, that only had 58 points in it.
"Yeah, can't have it all I guess," laughed Winks.
"Hopefully another bumper weekend coming up though."
More to come.
