A local Pelican has today moved to try and ward of a bit of a PR nightmare.
One Nation leader and prominent Queensland Pelican Pauline Hanson has fronted the media today to demand they stop calling her a pelican.
The high profile Pelecanus conspicillatus made the claims after being labelled a pelican by prominent blue haired left wing militant Paul Hogan.
Hogan labelled the pelican a pelican this week after being used as an example of the mythical 'monoculture' Pauline wants Australia to return to.
The quintessential image of 'Australiana' also compared Hanson to 'the boofhead' in charge of the United States.
She made the comments after her Press Club address, listing Paul Hogan and Norm Gunston (a character made famous by a tv channel she wants to defund) as prominent examples of what Australia should go back to.
However, the local pelican has unfortunately committed the cardinal sin of unwanted nicknames, angrily demanding everyone not call them something.
"I'm not a fucking pelican," said a furious Pauline to the The Advocate this afternoon.
"Gina and I have got our bots onto this, you aren't going to make the pelican thing a thing okay!"
Her comments come as a groundswell of actual people on Australian social media start relishing in making the whole pelican thing a thing.
With pelican comments beginning to take hold across the landscape, it's expected Hanson will inevitably lash out like any humourless person subject to a joke at their expense.
More to come.
