Local mum, Mandy Beams has never once before mentioned how much she knows about early-2000s Australian soccer.

This is a discovery her teenage children made this afternoon while she sat on the couch in a weird, distracted mood and watched FIFA world cup punditry on the SBS.

“Every time that Harry Kewell appears on the screen she swoons” says daughter, Tilly (20).

However, Amanda says she’s always been a big fan of football on the international stage, and puts it down to two pregnancies timing with two FIFA world cups in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

“The timezones really worked for me” she says

“I'll never forget 2006. That Harry Kewell was always very dishy,”

"I mean it was just so scandalous that whole transfer from Leeds to Liverpool. He's always been a livewire"

While Mrs Beams continues to rattle off obscure statistics about the career of the handsome man on the TV screen, her three teenage begin to cringe and one leaves the room.

"Mum is there anything to eat?" asks Tilly.

"Why are we even watching the soccer. Australia aren't playing"

Amanda turns the volume up.

"Shhhhh." she says.

"Harry's saying something"
