Thargomindah-based stock agent, Leroy Stagg, often forgets that city people treat dogs like human beings.
It's something that's always irked him every time he visits the big smoke, but he says it's definitely gotten worse since the pandemic.
"I just know that half of these fucken things were bought online, impulsively, in the middle of a lockdown" he says.
"It feels like there's a whole generation of people have just forgotten the basics. The way these city dogs carry on isn't normal"
As Leroy points out, not only is there an extreme disparity between the disciplining of city dogs and country dogs, but city dog owners are mind-bogglingly indifferent to their behaviour of their pets.
"You can tell. They haven't been trained. They get away with murder. And every time they cause shit their owners just pretend nothing is happening"
With a room booked next to the Regatta Hotel on Coro Drive, Leroy popped into the cafe inner-Brisbane cafe village for a coffee and breakfast before a string of meetings in the city this morning.
He says that's when he realised how bad things have gotten.
"Are you aware people just bring their dogs into cafes now?" he tells our reporters.
"A Bernese mountain dog just ate a sausage off my plate and his owner fucken giggled like I thought it was cute"
As Leroy stews on this complete lack of hygiene and general etiquette, he's starting to realise why Barnaby Joyce's recent ABC interview has caused so much pearl-clutching.
"I tell you what, this fucken cunnavfing could benefit from being spoken to like that"
"And don't you fucking tell me it's animal cruelty to raise your voice at your own dog."
"There's nothing more cruel than keeping a 40-kilogram mastiff locked up in a two bedroom town house"
