Local Boomer Left Furious After Being Asked To Leave Tip Upon Completing Census

A local sexagenarian was left exasperated last night, after trying to perform his civic duty.

The man whose brain hasn't been rotted by Sky News or online algorithms said he was looking forward to doing his part for the national census, by filling it out promptly and diligently.

"Look, do I think the government spends money properly? No, but there probably isn't a person in this country who does," said Colin Brent.

"But do I believe in the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the accumulation of national data to make policy decisions?"

"Of course I fucking do."

However, what Colin isn't a fan of, is being asked to dig into his pockets to tip the ABS for letting him complete a survey on the internet.

"Mate, these QR code thingies have just gone way too far," said Colin, referencing one of the pet peeves for older Australians.

"Why they hell am I tipping them? I haven't had any contact with a human and they want me to tip."

"The Americanisation of our culture has just gone too far."

When pressed on the rather eyebrow raising tip claim, a little more investigation was done by our reporter.

"Look here," said Colin, handing his phone to the reporter.

After a short investigation, we were able to deduce that the url for the tip was from a bar that his young fella took him to the other day, and he had in fact somehow changed tabs without realising.

"Bloody ridiculous isn't it," he said.

Our reporter nodded.

More to come.
