A local big fella has once again caught himself day dreaming about the time his entire sporting house in primary needed him to step up to the moment.

Local man Dylan Parker (31), who says that his life has been great so far, admits that nothing has ever quite compared to being selected as the back anchor in the Year 6 tug of war.

“I was a big kid, so normally athletics carnivals weren't really my thing,” explained Dylan.

“But when the tug of war came around, suddenly everyone needed me.”

Parker says the transformation from liability to sporting weapon was immediate, with some of the fastest and most athletic kids in the year suddenly treating him like a leader.

“I remember the sports teacher looking down the line, seeing me and just pointing to the back.”

“No discussion. Everyone knew.”

Stationed at the rear with the rope wrapped around his torso, Dylan reportedly dug his size 11 school shoes into the grass and absorbed the full force of Banksia House.

“When we started pulling them over, everyone was screaming my name,” he said.

“I'd never experienced anything like it.”

Despite later playing several seasons of recreational footy, Dylan says nothing has replicated the feeling.

Now working an office job where his large frame is primarily called upon to help move desks and carry cases of beer upstairs, Dylan admits he still yearns for another opportunity.

“I just want someone to look at me the same way they did when it was time for tug of war.”
