Liberals Insist Diplomatic Relations With Japan Have Never Been Worse Due To Melon Comment

After spending the last 6 months of his leadership tossing up whether he wants the Liberals to be the strong economic managers or the psycho redneck white supremacist party - it seems that Angus Taylor MP has finally landed a punch this week.

Prime Minister Albanese's government is on the brink of collapse, after being CAUGHT OUT making a clunky and weird remark about the Japanese Prime Minister gifting him melons.

After already being heavily criticised for saying he found Kylie Minogue attractive during a fruitless long-form podcast interview with a nameless comedian for the NOVA radio network, it seems there was still more outrage to be dug up.

It can be confirmed that NewsCorp reporters went back and scoured the same hour long podcast that every body had already forgotten about. It was here they found a bizarre riff that could vaguely be interpreted as chauvinistic.

Even though the Japanese government has dismissed the matter, suggesting it has been “sensationalised” by the tabloid media, the right-wing media pundits and political figures refuse to let it go - a month later.

This is an interesting strategy for both One Nation and the Coalition, who have spent the last year appealing to the very worst instincts of Australian voters, but are now suddenly outraged by a sleazy comment about the Japs.

It is not certain if Angus Taylor thinks pumping up this scandal will lure his party more voters, or if he's just making noise for the sake of it, as he stares down a 94 seat Labor majority and very little momentum in the polls.

The average Australian voter, however, doesn't appear too concerned about offending a nation that tortured and enslaved their grandfathers.

Still, both Taylor and Pauline Hanson insist that diplomatic relations between Japan and Australia have never been more hostile.
