The Australian media landscape is set for another seismic shake up this week with news that Kochie has also entered his far-right wing sympathiser era.
In scenes reminiscent of the early 2010s, when rival breakfast shows Today and Sunrise went head to head in a national ratings war to be crowned the #1 show getting broadcast to nursing homes and dentist waiting rooms, it’s believed a Kochie vs Karl clash is about to kick off, again.
After months of watching Karl Stefanovic make a Joe Bogan-esque sidestep into podcasting about far-right conspiracies and racial grievances, it’s understood Kochie is also desperate to get dropped into the algorithms of One Nation supporters.
Launching his pivot on social media this week, Kochie has unveiled his new podcast, “I WAKE UP with the TRUTH”, a title that’s a clear slight on his former Channel 9 rival’s morning show.
In an email thread with Kochie, The Advocate can reveal his new show promises to “finally tell it like it is”.
“After years of hosting Australia’s biggest breakfast program, I’ve decided it’s time to unshackle myself from the contractual obligations set out by laundry liquid sponsors, and finally explore the topics that most “in the media” are too scared to talk about!”
“My new show is me, unfiltered, unscripted and uncensored. It’s going to make a lot of people angry!”
Giving The Advocate a sneak peek at the lineup of guests, the new podcast is tipped to launch Kochie back into the national conversation.
“First up I’m speaking with Andrew Tate, who's had a bad run in the media, but for what reason?"
“And in episode two I’ve got Russel Brand lined up, he’ll be zooming in from London.”
“Then to lighten things up I’ve got Dave Hughes for episode three, and no, we’re not just gonna talk about Carlton and Port. Stay tuned.”
Kochie’s ‘I WAKE UP with the TRUTH’ podcast will be launching next week, with plans to syndicate across the Sky News network from next month.
