Italy Threaten To Boycott Next World Cup If FIFA Continue With Privatisation Push

The Italian Football Federation has today drawn a line in the sand.

The people in charge of the Azzurri have confirmed that they will be boycotting the next World Cup, if FIFA continue on this rampant greed fuelled quest to make as much money as possible from every aspect of the game.

This comes after the European football organisation UEFA blew up at FIFA and its boss Gianni Infantino.

Like the overwhelming majority of the globe, UEFA aren't heaps keen on FIFA selling everything and destroying the 'fabric' of the football.

UEFA issued a statement this morning, part of which said:

"No UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that FIFA will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership."

In solidarity with the region, Italy has joined those boycotts.

"We refuse to play at a World Cup until FIFA stop trying to sell our beautiful game," said a spokesperson for the Italian federation, whose boss has just walked out of the gig after less than a month in the role because his choice of coach wasn't appointed due to links to a Russian gambling company.

"We have actually been boycotting since Brazil 2014," said the spokesperson.

"And we will continue to boycott," said the citizen of a country who couldn't make the World Cup when they expanded the number of teams playing by 50%.

"We are Italians and we are a proud and strong nation."
