It's been revealed that the collapse of peace talks and recommencing of hostilities in the strait of Hormuz may have come down to JD Vance attempting to lighten the mood with a universal prop gag.

Sources from Pakistan say peace talks took a nose dive after JD Vance offered an Iranian envoy a piece of gum which turned out to be one of those snap gum gags.

The Vice President has defended the move claiming that the Iranians "need to take a chill pill" and that the harmless gag was aimed at lowering the temperature in the room.

Diplomatic staff present at the meeting described the moment as awkward, with the sharp snap echoing through the chamber before being followed by what one aide called “a very long silence".

“Yeah, it probably just wasn’t the right tone,” said one regional observer.

Reports suggest the Iranian delegation immediately stood up and left the room, with one official allegedly muttering something about “respect” as aides scrambled.

US officials have since attempted to downplay the incident, insisting talks were already fragile, even  though the President had assured the world that the peace talks would be a huge success.

Vance has reportedly floated doubling down with a handshake zapper in future talks, a suggestion that has not been widely supported within diplomatic circles.

Analysts say future talks will likely proceed without novelty gag props, though the Trump administration have not formally ruled them out.
