Australians are being treated like mushrooms this week because they're being kept in the dark and fed shit.
Scientists and meteorologists have been jumping up and down about it potentially not raining again for a few years, which has alarmed them. Despite this, many Australians have grown up learning about these Spanish children that either light us on fire or drown us, so this latest town crying regarding El Niño's unwelcome return to the continent has largely been ignored.
With the nation facing dramatically less rainfall over the next few years, the government is forging ahead with a further 150 data centres which will be built all over the place. Fuck it, they should greenlight 1500 more.
We're being told that these data centres will revolutionise the way we live, in that nobody will have to suffer the horrific indignity of having executive function again, let alone having to draft a terse email to a leasing agent that won't fix the black mould problem in your toddler's bedroom. The AI future will remove that burden.
Benevolent foreign billionaires have promised to carve off bits of their fortune and give them to us in return for them being built here. We should be happy and feel so fortunate. That they're not going to be built in a developing country, stealing their water and enriching a corrupt few. These people are good people, billionaires. We forgive their trespasses against decent society all the time. Don't we? Anyway, lucky we don't need water. We can just buy bottles of it at the supermarket.
More to come.
