After months of meticulous planning, Google spreadsheets, saved Tik Tok videos, planned Instagram dumps and many fights over Air bnbs, the girl's Greece trip finally left the group chat.
The twenty something group of girls had planned their trip down to the minute, which was basically tanning at a cute beach spot followed by photos with an aperol and then a very boozy dinner.
However, a part of their daily routine they hadn’t planned for was the hour on non-verbal time on their phones at the end of their beach days.
One of the girls, 23 year old Lucy Arnold couldn’t believe how natural the one hour of scroll time felt for all the girls.
“We didn’t discuss it we just got home from the beach, had our showers and then one by one stopped talking to each other and started scrolling Tik Tok” Lucy explained.
“All in the same room by the way” she added.
While maybe a more fucked up version of mindfullness, the scroll time was vital for the girls to get along during the trip.
“If we didn’t scroll we’d probably start going at each other, it’s hard being around the same people 24/7.”
“It’s important we decompress after a long day in the sun.”
After spending thousands on flights and flying nearly 30 hours to get to the popular tourist destination, the girls needed at least one hour of their day to completely brain rot.
“I know we should be making most of the day seeing an ancient artifact or something but honestly I need to completely shut off my brain” one of the other girls, Hayley said.
“It’s for mental health,” she added.
But the one hour phone time did have a small amount of interaction between the girls.
“Oh yeah we send each other reels and shit and laugh from across the room.”
“It’s more social than you think!”
More to come.
