As beautiful big blue skies cover Betoota today, autumn is pretty awesome, it can be confirmed. This is the sentiment felt by many local Diamantinians, as they go about their day in our little pocket of paradise here in Australia.
After a week of incredibly grim news headlines ranging from Trump’s binfire of a war in Iran, fuel shortages, skyrocketing inflation, and the rise of far-right political parties who are happy to turn a blind eye to re-employing convicted rapists, some would say there’s been little to be overjoyed about in the news cycle.
However, after a week of simply stunning autumnal skies many locals have told The Advocate that the weather has been the real MVP of the week.
Speaking to local landscaper, Harold “Hedgy” Philips, the impact of fuel prices on his business have been mildly dulled by the fact he gets to work in near perfect conditions.
“Cost me double to fill up the ute this week, but God how goods this weather been!”
“Proper bluebird days, not a cloud in the sky. I’ve been trimming hedges every day, overdosing myself sick with Vitamin D.”
Even for the parents of kids running amuck on school holidays, the recent blitz of gorgeous weather has reportedly been a great mood lifter.
Speaking to one Coffs Harbour father, who’s had to juggle three kids on school holidays this week, these crisp April days have been perfect to shirk work and just enjoy the most beautiful country on earth.
“It’s been the best, the kids haven’t needed to touch their iPads all week.”
“We’ve taken them hiking, the beach, done an afternoon down at the skatepark with some new bikes we got them for Christmas.”
“I might even chuck a sickie on Monday and try to extend the holidays a bit before the long winter grind begins.”
