Local Sydney man James Yorke (28), who has just stumbled across the Pam the Bird saga while doom scrolling has let out a deep sigh before muttering, "Fucking Melbourne."
Pam the Bird, a well known graffiti character painted across some of Melbourne's most iconic landmarks by a semi-anonymous street artist, has long baffled locals with the seemingly impossible places it manages to appear.
Earlier this week, the artist scaled one of the Bolte Bridge's towering columns in the early hours of the morning, only to find himself surrounded by what appeared to be several dozen police officers.
The incident served as yet another reminder to the rest of Australia that this particular breed of graffiti obsessive male seems to exist almost exclusively in Melbourne.
"When I saw a stupid giant bird on a giant concrete tower, with a man holding up the middle finger towards 20 cops waiting for him at the bottom, I just knew this had to be in Melbourne"
After confirming that the incident did in fact occur in Melbourne, James nodded to himself with the quiet satisfaction of someone whose stereotypes had once again been validated.
"It's always some bloke called Jase or Deano who's spent two months planning to climb a bridge at 3am just so he can paint the same little cartoon he's been drawing for years"
"I don't even mean that as an insult. It's almost admirable. Melbourne has somehow evolved an entire subculture of guys whose full-time hobby is risking prison to paint stuff in places no normal person could ever reach"
