The Federal Government of Australia has today been quick to react to a natural disaster.
In the wake of the devastating 4.5 magnitude earthquake that struck central west NSW overnight, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has moved fast to help the people of Australia's most important state.
Announcing a National Emergency and plans for a fast tracked $2.4 billion disaster fund, Albanese says the state of NSW must be looked after in its hour of need.
The Prime Minister has refused to confirm or deny whether he will call the army in to help with recovery efforts from the quake that was apparently felt by people in Sydney.
It's believed the effect of the quake on the people of Sydney, was the trigger which caused the government to act - with a natural disaster committee immediately set up.
"Unlike things like massive algal blooms down in SA, this earth quake is something that cannot be ignored," explained the Federal Government today.
"The effects of the mild tremor felt by a few people in Sydney may last for years, and it's important that they get all the support they need."
"I expect the full support of the media on this issues, who love to jump on a heavy shower as a flash flood every time there is a downpour in Sydney."
More to come.
