In some welcome news from Betoota Heights, a local father of 3 has confirmed that a relatively well known bloke is actually a 'really good' one.

Grahame Wallis (65) from our town's double garage utopia explained that 242 game Broncos and 44 game Betoota Dolphins LEGEND Bill Balters is 'a ripper of a bloke.'

With a few appearances here and there on Desert Rock FM and the odd NRL360 appearance where he can appear quite confrontational, Grahame says he was really curious about what Balters was like in real life.

"Mate, without any of the bullshit, he's just a lovely fella," explained Grahame.

"Just a normal guy actually, but really friendly."

That's the messaging that's been given to all of Grahame's kids, as well as 6 or 7 mates and his brother Steve.

"Honestly, I just said 'gday mate love your work and used to love watching ya play' and he actually shook my hand and asked how I was going," said Grahame to his youngest, who stepped out of a meeting to take the call.

"Then was asking about my footy career!"

"Bloody blown away actually, I reckon he'd be a ripper bloke to have a beer with."

"Reckons the Broncos are in a fair bit of trouble this year."

"I've heard he drinks down at the Royal every now and then, so might see if I bump into him."

More to come.
