As the No 1 Church Street tower nears completion this week, the mysterious owner of the mutli-story penthouse can be revealed.
Thirty Merc's former drummer, Karl, is set to call the top of the brand new 45-story tower home according to discussions in the front bar of the Amaroo Hotel over the road.
Widely regarded as Dubbo's premiere water holes, the locals at the Amaroo have watched the tower slowly emerge from the banks of the Macquarie River to the heavens above.
Not much is known about the building. There are many questions as to why it even exists. However, none of those a relevant now that Karl, who is also rumoured to be the richest man in the gateway town to the NSW Outback, is about to move it.
"It wouldn't surprise me," said one resident of Dubbo's exclusive 'golden triangle'.
"He's still pretty cashed up from 'In The Summertime'. Well, at least that's what we've heard."
That retired Narromine grazier's sentiments were echoed by a day drinker down at the Amaroo, who all but confirmed that Karl is the 'Kerry Packer' of town.
"Yeah he had a green Maloo ute back in the day. Plus, once I saw him buy a whole tray of wet pussy shots at the Pastoral using a debit card. That's fuck you money. There would've been at least 20. I put my hand out to get one and he goes 'Oi fuck ya get ya own fat boy' and we had a laugh. Lucky not to get a hiding that night the big noter cunt."
The Advocate has reached out to Karl's management but have yet to receive a reply.
More to come.
