Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade has today issued an urgent warning to all Aussies currently in New York, or planning to travel to the Big Apple.

DFAT has urged all overseas citizen in the mega city to show extreme caution and to avoid wearing black clothing.

This comes as New Yorks Knicks's fans prepare to burn the city to the ground, after a historic NBA win.

After being beaten out of the gate by a wide margin, the Knicks managed to pull off the biggest ever comeback in NBA finals history to take a 3-1 lead in the series.

Capped off by a stunning go ahead bucket with 1.5 seconds left on the clock, the Knicks sent Madison Square garden into raptures.

With the building bubbling away for the entirety of the 2nd half, the lid lifted off after the miraculous comeback.

However, those scenes were nothing compared to what is to come from Knicks fans out on the street for the next few hours.

"We are urging all Australians to remain indoors, and if you must go out, certainly do not do so wearing black," said a DFAT spokesperson this afternoon Australian time.

"For the flat white makers and those aspiring to the Wolf of Wall street life style, just keep your head down."

"While this Knicks win is going to make for some stunning content on socials, we are praying we don't see any naive Aussies caught up in the middle of it."

More to come.
