A delusional Australian man insists he is going to pick a European club and stay up to date with the Socceroos qualifications for the 2030 World Cup.

"This is gonna be great, always wanted to see what all the hype with the EPL is about, I'm sure I'll get used to the 2am kick offs" said Jake Foster (26).

After getting swept up in World Cup fever, Jake, like many Australian's doesn't want to have to wait for 4 more years to watch soccer again, so he's convinced himself he's actually going to watch European based soccer this year.

"I'm thinking I might root for Ispwich, cause it's named after the Queensland city?" he suggested.

Jake has already several football related Instagram pages despite having only recognised about six club badges a fortnight ago.

"I'll just chuck the games on before bed" he explained.

"Or wake up early. Or maybe just watch the mini matches. Either way, I'm definitely sticking with this"

Jake admitted the biggest challenge won't be the time difference but figuring out which of the seemingly endless competitions he's supposed to care about.

"I've counted the league, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa League and something called the Conference League. I thought the World Cup only came around every four years."
